Habarana Jungle and Minneriya National Park

Habarana is a small city in Anuradhapura district of Sri Lanka around 180 km away from Colombo. It is a famous tourist destination for nature lovers and safari lovers. And also the eighth wonder of the world which is “Sigiriya” also located close to Habarana. Apart from that Minneriya national which is heavily populated by elephants is an eye catching place for the people who visits Habarana. The Minneriya Park is dominated by the Minneriya tank. The dry season, From May to September is the best time to visit. It says that it is the best time because during this time herds of elephants which may over 200 make their way to Minneriya reservoir in searching of food and water which is known as “the Gathering”. Apart from elephants the park is a home for other mammals, birds etc.
